Curcuma xanthorrhiza or Javanese Turmeric is a variety of turmeric grown in India and Indonesia. Some traditional uses of xanthorrhiza are to overcome lack of appetite, constipation, hemorrhoid, acne, diarrhea, and seizure medication, to destroy gallstones, to treat kidney and liver diseases, rheumatic pain, rheumatism, and arthritis.
The traditional efficacy of javanese turmeric is mostly related to its antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory capability.
It has higher curcumin content than yellow turmeric.
